Release: Contact Low – I Let This Turmoil Lead Me – or50

jcard_v01Artist statement: This tape encapsulates my personal experiences, traumatic events experienced as a child and teenager and the suffering from Clinical Depression Ihave suffered from starting at an early age. As an adult, I have realized that there is no real reason to exist, no one has any real cosmic purpose and that in some warped way, we are put here to endure. I carry all of my past failures on my flesh, I burn my flesh as a way to pay penance towards my wrong doing. Contact low is a conduit for all of the shit in my mind, a way of dealing with my suicidal depression and self doubt as well as a reflection of how I feel about my place in the world.

Review: Pulsating Cyst – Horrible Signal glow in the dark 7″

glowinthedarkThis 7″ is made of glow in the dark vinyl and harsh dark ambien industrial death. Low squashed bass tones linger up down and around squalling arches of hissing circuit-bent jabberwocky. Threading feedback through the eye with needles in it. Putted the toaster in the bathtub style lock and groove end the side. Nice printed label propaganda, band sticker, label sticker, black inner sleeve and thick glossy 2-sided inserts all nice as can be. Overall average+ sounding noise release with above average packaging. Glow in the dark vinyl. Got it for like 3 or 4 bucks, brand new from the label. Obfuscated rules. Pick one up for your kid brother back east, it’ll be a great 1st exposure to noise.

Release: Human As Disease – 10,000 Volcanoes – or30

CDBlackened earth, void of a once lush planet. Rain falls like mud and burns skin. Bones rattle and slide on shifting graves floating on the surface. The deafening rumble of 10,000 volcanoes. Black skies. All cries have ceased. Eyes melt with ash. A cleansing. For eon we tortured and raped her. Poisoning, suffocating, killing all. Vast machines committing genocide against our mother. She awoke. A last caress. Her molten blood poured from every surface. Choking, melting flesh, burning. Burning. This is the soundtrack to the new dawn. All hail the new dawn of 10,000 volcanoes.

Review: Droughter – Skin Gentleman’s Club

or10Droughter is Kevin McEleney, who also works under the name Drag Age (which has been reviewed on this blog). On Skin Gentleman’s Club, Droughter douses everything in gasoline and sets fire to it; any rhythms created by looping he destroys, any exhibiting signs of musicianship are eventually waylaid. Droughter leaves a desolate landscape in his wake, and the album is so completely off-putting that it’s just fantastic. Continue reading

Review:Josh Lay/Crown of Bone – This is a Tourniquet of the Light, the Black Obituary.

CDOR4_front_insertBefore this split release I hadn’t heard anything from Josh Lay as a solo artist; he used to be a part of Cadaver in Drag (which I love, and I cherish the one cassette I have by them), and he’s also got his own moniker of Swamp Horse. Crown of Bone is a project by Dustin Alan Redington who runs Occult Supremacy (shameless plug: Tomb of Trinkets’ Drugged Lunch will be coming out on that label shortly), and also makes up part of the group Tenebrious. On This is a Tourniquet of the Light, the Black Obituary. (period included on the release), both artists offer up oppressively bleak tracks that span over 20 minutes apiece. Continue reading

Review: Sky Burial, “Pas the Sarvering Gallack Seas and Flaming Nebyul Eye”

PTSGSAFNEAt five songs and well over an hour in duration, Pas is definitely not a light, buoyant work.  Opener “Na Fir Ghorm” is the shortest, clocking in at around eight and a half minutes, and sets the stage similar to last year’s “Carne[val]”, although this time with Nigel Ayers contributing.  The stuttering, static laden rhythm and bent music box sounds put an occult spin on carnival trappings, made all the more excruciating by the pained bagpipes of Craig McFarlane.

Eerie church bells and ear ringing sound.Banshee screams invite you to spoken words in an unfamiliar tongue.Bells ring frantic as his voice echoes and fades.A blast of distorted words scream so loud beating the drums of your ears.synths are used to enhance this.Chaotic noise sounds like a war scene.VERY brutal and harsh to an extreme.Powerfull electronics open the door to wretched screaming.Electronics go fucking haywire.Distorted vocals growl as they speak.More bloody screams burst through your ears. For a moment all comes to a brief chilling halt. What sounds like dentist drills going straight to the back teeth with nothing to numb it.Screams that seem like they’ll never end along with an abundance of harsh noise fucked up electronics.Disturbing vocals speak and shriek making you wonder just what were they were thinking to create such a brilliant transitions and as well as exploring such a range of insane vocals leaving nothing out.Distorted synths imitate guitar melody at the end of it all.The last few minutes really stand out from the rest of the recording. All in the same style but at the same time very different from the other pieces.Still though  all the songs together form one distorted experiance of hate filled harshness that is stunning to behold.

The album cover depicts a drawing of two kids laying in a cave.
I think the tracks within may be what they are hearing in that deep
cavern of earth.Throbbing synth bass like a lazer cannon in preparation
to fire and countless noizes swirling in a frenzy. From high end screeches and hissing static to low scraping noize and bellowing sub-bass movements.Soaring pulses and otherworldy experimentation.Bubbling sounds from other dimmensions.Towards the end it shifts into high gear and sounds like a space craft making an emergency landing in a fiery crash. So much intenisty as TASUKETEKUN takes us on a unique and thrilling ride through the cosmos. Just in track one alone this has everything you could want from and instrumental electronic/noize album.Blasts of sonic sound that go everywhere and nowhere. There is a ton of depth and so many things to discover with repeated listens.
Truly a great opening track.
From the insane high end conclusion of track one we are shoved straight into
Human Weapon.Ringing feedback on the extreme high end.Emergency shuttle
sounds blare out with hissing steam as we crash land on an alien world. The controls
squeal and bleet as they slowly die leaving us abandoned in the unknown. There is a
high sense of panick that fills the track. So now here we are left alone with no way to
fend for ourselves other than with ourselves. We must become human weapons or
possibly die in this strange uncharted land. The face of the planet meets us with hundreds of harsh noizes pulse all at once.Craters spill steam into the possibly toxic atmosphere. Warping bubbling tones rise along a glitching backdrop of threatening sound. It truly feels like being lost to elements that we have no experience in facing. Crashing blasts and razor sharp hits of strange noize. What sounds like some kind of engine fires up and dies.Saw like rythm cuts a path and brings everything to a shrill feedback before another wave of static noize and odd manipulation begins.Towards the end of the track we find insane sound manipulation at confusing speeds.Stunning with insanity.Again this  is a unique experience with great production and everything an experimental noize fan could possibly ask for.
Track two bleeds into light sleep in a monolithic wall of harsh noize.Sharp blades of noize pierce the skies of a strange horizon. It sorta feels like this is building up from where track two left off. There is a deep pulse with a rythm obscured behind the sheets of static and layers of whirling noize.Cloud bursts and thunder claps interrupt the orgy of sound and then mingle with them becoming one.An intercourse ritual of the inhabitants of this surreal world perhaps. What ever you want to call it…It is not “light sleep” or any sleep for that matter. Or maybe I am mistaken.Gotta love it when an album keeps you on your toes.Everything fades into a warm wave of static.Like watching a sunset on a cable channel that has turned to fuzz. And as the sun sets it shoots fourth a brilliant array of sound across the skyline until it falls into an industrial rythm accompanied by wailing winds of moaning feedback. There are times when this reminds me of MAMMAL or COMPACTOR and others where it is too strange and unique to compare to any other artists.Another harsh blast filled with high end shrieks and ringing feedback that seems to have no end.In a final triumphant attack of harsh noize we are overcome by the beings of this extra terrestrial enviornment and trapped there with no hope of returning.
Tired of life? Tired of the world around you? Need a lil mindless escapism?
Get this album and let it blast you into oblivion.A noize lover’s dream:
